Practitioner Training

Add EFT to your professional toolkit by taking a Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner training. This training is aimed at those wishing to use EFT with clients and is suitable for people with existing therapy or coaching backgrounds.

AMT training compared with Gary Craig's EFT Certification

In my opinion, the best way to start learning EFT is via Gary Craig's original training DVDs.
This is how I started my EFT education and I regard them as "the source".
They provide the the solid base of understanding that you need if you want to be an EFT practitioner.

However, once I had learned EFT from Gary's DVDs I felt the need for something more.
(Just for info, the three sets of videos I studied at that time were what are now the Foundational Library consisting of The EFT Course, EFT Beyond the Basics, and From EFT to the Palace of Possibilities.
The DVDs had given me a sound understanding of how EFT works and shown me dozens of examples of applying it to different issues. They gave me the confidence to start applying it to friends and family.
But I didn't feel ready to start working with paying clients.

Gary's recently introduced certification programme, which is based on the DVD training, provides an academic certification - it ensures that you have a consistent level of understanding about EFT as a technique. I strongly believe that establishing this type of consistency amongst practitioners is a positive step forward for EFT as a profession.

What the AMT training offers is different.
For a start, it assumes that you are already familiar with the basic EFT mechanics and concepts. Having viewed Gary's EFT Course (the first set in the Foundational Library), or having completed a Level 1 course elsewhere, is a pre-requisite for attending the AMT Practitioner training.
Then it focuses on practicing EFT: how to apply it to others
and in particular how to ensure client comfort and safety.
You get to practice under the supervision of a trainer who can give direct feedback on what just happened.
You learn a variety of important client-handling skills such as how to record and demonstrate success, how recognise and avoid an abreaction, non-EFT techniques for when you get stuck....and much more.
These parts of the AMT training reflect the experience of  the founding therapists who created the AMT and the practitioner training.

It was the AMT training which made me feel that I was ready to start charging for my work - and that I could handle pretty much anything a client could throw at me.
It also provided me with the ongoing support of an experienced EFT practitioner and trainer who I could contact at any time for addition advice.
Since then, I continue to benefit from being in contact with other EFT practitioners, as well as being part of the AMT community, including a well-maintained website with regular news features and practitioner listing.

I've been an AMT practitioner since 2002 - and yet when Gary Craig brought out his new certification programme last year I jumped at the chance to get certified through him (I am currently certfied as EFTCert-I - the only level currently available).

For my money, Gary Craig's DVD training (and, now, certfication) and the AMT practitioner training complement each other.
The DVDs provide the academic grounding you need. The AMT training consolidates that academic knowledge and gives you the practical training and ongoing support that will help you become a confident EFT practitioner.

Requirements

Participation on the Practitioner training is subject to you already being fully familiar with the basic EFT recipe and reasonably confident using it for self-help and with friends.

There are many ways you might have reached this level of proficiency, but as an absolute minimum you will have either

I would also recommend the following:

  • That you have worked through at least one other of Gary Craig's CD sets in full OR
    That you have .
  • That you have at least some experience of guiding another person through the use of EFT such as a friend or family member.
  • That you are familiar with the concepts of Psychological Reversal and how to correct it, Aspects and how to distinguish them, and are comfortable creating setup statements for yourself for most issues.

If you are not sure about whether you meet these requirements and have alternative experience which you feel is equivalent, please call me to discuss.
In my experience, those who have met the minimum requirement do well on the training and have no trouble with the exam.
Those who try to "get by" without having met these requirements tend to struggle, both during the training and in doing the exam.
Two days is not enough to go from zero to proficient practitioner - and the AMT training is not intended to achieve that

Passing this training does not in itself qualify you to practice as a therapist. You need to already be a fully practising therapist or trained coach in your own right, with full practice insurance in place at the time of certification.
If you are a training or prospective therapist or coach in training without insurance in place, you may still take the training. Certification can be delayed until you are ready to start practising.

Weekdays: £295 inc VAT
Weekends: £325 inc VAT

In either case, £245 or £275 payable at the time of training, £50 payable direct to AMT at time of certification.

How to book

Booking is by personal arrangement. Please email or call in the first instance indicating your current level of knowledge and experience.

Payment is by personal cheque or via PayPal.

AMT Advanced Practitioner training

Take your practitioner skills to the next level. While the Basic Practitioner training focusses primarily on using EFT, The Advanced Practitioner training not only covers advanced uses of EFT, but also provides you with an introduction to additional Energy Psychology techniques including TAT, BSFF and EmoTrance.

Benefits

  • Consolidate and extend your knowledge.
  • Try out other energy techniques such as TAT, BSFF and EmoTrance.
  • 1-1 troubleshooting and coaching specific to your practice.
  • Listing as "Advanced Practitioner" on the AMT online listing.

Format

The format is as for the Practitioner training: 1-1 intensive, a mixture of theory and practical exercises over two consecutive days. There is no examination requirement apart from live assessment during the course.

Since the format is 1-1, there is also space within the set course to address any issues specific to you and your practice. It also includes an element of coaching focused on building your practice, talking to clients and so on.

Cost

Weekdays: £295 inc VAT
Weekends: £325 inc VAT

Requirements

You must already have successfully completed the Basic Practitioner training with an AMT trainer.

Book both and save £100

The serious practitioner will probably want to take both trainings in order to maximise their effectiveness with clients and their knowledge of the MET field.

If you know you want to take both trainings eventually, you can book and pay for both at the same time and take £100 off the total (either weekend or weekday prices).

Since the training format is arranged to fit your schedule you can arrange the Advanced Practitioner training at any time following the Practitioner training (at least 3 months gap and subject to successful completion of the Practitioner exam).

This option is risk free to you. The difference in cost is refundable if within one year:

  • You decide that you don't want to do the Advanced Practitioner training for any reason.
  • You do not successfully complete the Basic Practitioner examination.

The difference becomes non-refundable after 1 year, although you can still do the training any time you want to provided you have completed the Basic Practitioner examination.

Other AMT trainers

It's important when choosing professional training that you select a trainer that is appropriate for your particular needs.

Although all AMT trainers follow the same set syllabus for both trainings, you might want to consider whether other aspects of their background makes them more suitable for you. For instance, my specialism is coaching and NLP and I tend to focus on coaching applications for EFT within my work. Although these applications can be just as transformative as other contexts, if you are a hypnotherapist or a psychotherapist you may prefer to do your training with a trainer who shares your background and your client profile.

Physical location can also be an issue. So if you are outside the Milton Keynes area you might want to see if there is another AMT trainer nearer to you.

Check out the AMT website to see other practitioner and non-practitioner trainings run by AMT trainers.
